Emily Blunt was born in Roehampton, London, England. Emily Blunt is the second of four children born to Joanna Mackie, an English teacher and former actress, and barrister Oliver Simon Peter Blunt, QC, one of the highest-profile barristers in the U.K. Emily Blunt's paternal uncle is Crispin Blunt, Conservative MP for Reigate.

Emily Blunt previously shared a home with her ex-boyfriend, Canadian singer Michael Bublé, whom she first met in Melbourne backstage at the Australian television Logie Awards in 2005.

Emily Blunt later provided background vocals on his cover of "Me and Mrs. Jones" on his album Call Me Irresponsible.

In November 2008, Emily Blunt began dating American actor John Krasinski, after the pair were set up by Blunt's The Devil Wears Prada co-star Anne Hathaway.

On 28 August 2009, Emily Blunt and Krasinski announced their engagement. The couple married on 10 July 2010 in Italy, and live in the United States.
